DESCRIPTION:This session will be the capstone event for “Learnings from the Chehalis.” Over the past 15 years\, community volunteers\, citizens\, and government agencies have been putting effort in to making the Chehalis River clean and healthy for people\, fish and wildlife.  How well have we done? This session will look at progress made on water quality improvement\, salmon habitat restoration\, water conservation\, and the impacts of regulations and policies. \nOur capstone talk will be held by a panel from the Chehalis Basin Partnership. The Chehalis Basin Partnership was formed in 1998 to provide a framework for local citizens\, interest groups\, and government organizations to work collaboratively to identify and solve water-related issues. Come with questions! \n \nThree presentations will start off the event:\n“Water quality status and trends in the upper Chehalis basin.  Are water quality improvement projects working?”” \n“Restoring the Chehalis for Fish”

SUMMARY:Watershed Festival at Centralia's Summerfest
DESCRIPTION:The Chehalis Watershed Festival Celebration is coming to Borst Park during Summerfest this Fourth of July.  The Celebration adds even more great activities for you and your family to participate in after the fun-run and free pancake breakfast. \nThe Watershed Festival celebrates the Chehalis River\, the plants\, animals and people who depend on the river and its watershed.  Local volunteers will provide activities that are both educational and fun.  Come slide down the “Drain Dare” and learn how to keep water in the Chehalis River clean.  Try your hand at moving earth like a river with the River Table.  Learn about the fish you might see in the Chehalis River\, including the spooky Lamprey\, and try out the: Salmon Life-Cycle Beanbag Toss\, Fishing For Facts\, and How Wetlands Work. \nThe Celebration will be part of the fun in Borst Park from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm on Monday\, July 4th. SUMMARY:Explore the Watershed by Bike - Willapa Trail Bike Ride
DESCRIPTION:Washington State Parks recently finished work to replace two bridges along the Willapa Hills Trail\, connecting the trail from Chehalis to Pe Ell for the first time in nearly nine years.  \nThis summer\, cyclists and families will have a chance to explore the trail between Chehalis and Pe Ell in the Willapa Hills Fat Tire Ride & Festival. \n“This is not a race. We’re more targeted toward families or potentially individuals who want to see the countryside … and get to explore the farms along the way\,” said volunteer marketing specialist Holli Schoonover. \nEarly registration costs $30 for individuals or $80 for a family of five\, with each additional family member costing $10. Meal tickets cost $10 per person. Early registration ends May 15. \nThe ride’s route starts and ends at the Veterans Memorial Museum in Chehalis and includes a 50-mile round trip between Chehalis and Pe Ell. DESCRIPTION:The Chehalis River Basin Land Trust is hosting a work party to remove the invasive blackberry and Scots broom at the Chehalis Discovery Trail on June 25 starting at 9:30. We will also remove plant protectors that are no longer needed. Bring work gloves\, garden clippers and water bottle. \nWelcome and party organizing at 9:30am at the old barn.
